HERESY - Death Guard Moritat

It has taken me a little while to get him finished, but my DeathGuard Moritat is finally ready to take the field. I know that the "twin plasma pistol devastation" is a thing of the past, but I still love the gunslinger look the paired pistols gives him.

Here's a quick size comparison. My Moritat stands tall, very tall.

And a quick reminder of what he looked like pre-paint.

  1. This guy is absolutely incredible, Dave! He has such a presence to him, and the paintjob is absolutely beautiful! I also almost did a double take when I realised that this guy was based on the Nurgle Lord and not a Stormcast Eternal -- brilliant stuff! And what's more, there's something deliciously Proto-Plague-Marine-ish about him, both due to the source model and to his size and bulk. Truly Outstanding!

    1. Thanks, KS : ) yeah, I did the conversion before the Stormcasts were even released, so as well as being late to the Moritat party, I'm late to the converting the Nurgle Lord party too ; )

    2. Just because you're late doesn't mean you didn't manage to hit it out of the park, though: This is easily one of the most original and involved conversions of the Nurgle Lord I have seen so far!

  4. Stunning conversion & painting. The purple glow of the plasma pistols works really nicely with the other colours, & all the detailing (including that base!) are lush.

    1. Thanks, PC. I've been enjoying sneaking the three skulls thing onto a few of my DG bases : )

  5. Lovely! I dig the (true)scaling - after all, virtually every heresy book includes the phrase "he was big, even for an astartes", so he's totally in keeping with the fluff! Hah!

    1. Yeah, the scaling wasn't a deliberate thing, but it works.

  8. Dave, which kit is the blinged out plasma pistol from?

  9. Fantastic conversion on him! It really goes to show how that kit can become so many things in good hands. His pose is very Death Guard, calm and methodical as he scopes out his next target.
