Horus Heresy - Death Guard Rapier complete... and all the bits you could want!

I have finally completed the painting on the Death Guard Rapier. I first posted about this little find (and subsequent kit bash) back in February. Where did the time go? Do you have a few hours to sit and listen? ; )

Anyway, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, although the weathering powders look a little too orange in these shots.

Here's a link to the original post, some six months ago.

Additionally, my mate Alex is selling off the last of his GW Bitz inventory from his old business (Battleroad Games & Hobbies). He is doing it in typical Alex fashion - all or nothing. But this means you get a great chance to walk away with 4.5 pounds (just over 2 kilograms) of Warhammer and 40K bits. Enough to keep you and all your buddies converting for years (possibly decades) to come!

You can find a link to his eBay auction HERE.

Next up? My very first trip to GenCon!!!

Cheers
Dave

  1. Very nice. That Rapier lots a lot better with more than a wash over it.
Oh, the ebay link doesn't work. It's linking back to the original post.

  2. Looks great Dave! I like the contrast with the armor and the ground effect. Great work!

  3. Dave,
I wouldn't worry about the orange tinge in the photos. This is 40k. They could be on a planet that has a lot of iron oxide in the dirt or something similar.

The models look great. Enjoy your hard work :).

  4. Good job on the freehand as well. It takes resolve and honed skills like yours to get a good result of course, but it complements the more organic lines of most styles better than the sharp edges of a transfer, and binds the whole mini.

  5. Absolutely beautiful work, man! Out of curiosity, what is the antenna on the left-hand model from? I don't recognize it.

Looking forward to Gencon as well - getting on the plane tomorrow morning! Hope to get a chance to meet up with ya there!

    1. That's a good question, and I'm not sure where it's from. Possibly one of the newer IG tanks?

      See you on Saturday!

  6. Nic looking DG mate! I like the cleaner looking white over the more typical, dirty brown look most people seem to go with (even for preheresy stuff).

    What's next on the table?

    1. Hey mate, thanks for that. I like the grey more than the bone look for these guys. I think a few more Death Guard will be next, or perhaps the Thanatar.

  7. That's a really characterful crew you've converted there. I particularly like the dude with the binoculars. Great paint job too.

  8. Is the pistol-style signum/remote a regular bit or a cool conversion.
