Just a quick one today. Last (k)night I took a break from painting the next five flagellants and decided to start in on the Knights Of Morr. I now have four more steeds converted, and the beginnings of a First Knight and Standard Bearer. I'm looking forward to laying down some grim and grimy metallics on the barding for the horses and contrasting it nicely with the purple for the feather plumes.

I know it may be a bit late, but ever consider giving them coffin shields? I think it would fit the theme quite nicely!
ReplyDeleteI talked about this with a few people early on and we agreed that the "coffin shield" look would be a bit too heavy handed. Instead, I 'll be going for the rectangular shields with some sculpted detail, including elements like the hourglass and black roses.

ReplyDeleteI was hoping with this empire wave they would update the horses, I like the ones with the war alter I wonder when the knights will get some love.
I'd heard rumors that they weren't going to get new knights, and based on the way the releases for armies have lately been completely new or BIG kits, I was pretty sure they wouldn't be updated this time either. The seems to be some great new knightly artwork that may, however, be a precursor to a second wave...*crosses fingers*

DeleteNice work so far. I see you've floated the torsos above the waist connections. Is that because they're not the matching bits or is that to add a bit of height to the models?

Well spotted Ron! I think the original torsos are a little too short (or possibly too "round"), and when mounted on the back of these huge steeds it was just compounded. A thin sliver of plasticard has brought them back to a preferred proportion I think.
DeleteThe conversions look like good quality - but why keep the fluffy uniforms? Knights of Morr just seems to me like they'd go more gothic-y.
ReplyDeleteRight on! Making some kind of followers of Morr always seemed like a project just waiting to happen. In fact, wayyyyyy back in the day, I did create a knight of Morr... as a character in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay!
