Jon Cosper's Salamanders
I mentioned in my post last Sunday that I had a few more photos of my competitor's army from the White Marsh Armies On Parade day. Jon Cosper was a great guy to chat with and I learned he's been playing 40K for just under four years, and he prefers to convert and paint more than play. He did, however, start wargaming nearly 20 years ago with Battletech, owning upwards of 200 Mechs!
Anyway, here are a few slightly shaky iPhone photos of the rest of his army from the day.
Nice work from Jon, who has already thrown down the gauntlet for next year : )
Cheers

Bruno Grelier
It's never a good time when we lose one of our own.
The miniature painting community lost Bruno Grelier (pictured above) just over a week ago. I never had the pleasure of meeting Bruno (in person or online), but I can certainly say I've admired many of his works over the last decade or so. In addition, a number of my "blogosphere friends" were good friends with Bruno, and are feeling the loss particularly keenly.
I send my condolences to all that knew and loved Bruno and his work.
Bruno was one of the masters who kept the spirit of the Orks (particularly Feral Orks) alive during the "dark days", when Ork players were desperate for a new codex and a new one was years away.

Result!
So, the qualifier at the store yesterday was a good result for me! Not only was there another competitor, but he was a nice guy who had done some great work. Neither of us had an entourage to vote for us (unlike other locations, I hear) so it came down to a close 6 to 5 vote.
Above you can see the tarted-up photo I shot last night under my lights. Below is the best shot I got of Jon Cosper's Salamanders on my phone on the day. I didn't lug my good camera and tripod there as it seemed I might be the only entrant, so my apologies to Jon.
I took a few other shots of some of the cool elements of Jon's army, including his Techmarine Dreadnought. I'll post those up in the next couple of days.
Also coming will be some more photos of my War Altar of Morr, completed on Friday night with the addition of five more "pushers". The base (actually two bases glued together) and chains are from Dragon Forge, thanks for the support Jeff!
And with Leitpold The Black completed, I should be able to squeeze out another post for this pompous and arrogant miniature (you'll see what I mean when you see his face).
See you in Chicago!
Cheers

The Display Board of Morr (and AoP qualifier tomorrow)
I've just wrapped up the last models for the Armies On Parade in-store qualifier, so I'm all ready to go tomorrow. Unfortunately Mike, the store manager, let me know that no-one else has mentioned bringing in an entry, so my army might be lonely on the day. Of course, the store will be full of folks in a 40K mood, so I guess we'll see how it all goes down.
Anyway, here are a few more photos of the board. Thanks again to the guys at Dropzone Games for their sponsorship!
And if you'd like to see the army that'll win at Games Day Chicago in four weeks time, check out James Wappel's army here. ; )
Cheers

Nearing Completion
Well, after wrapping this up at lunch yesterday, I was able to get a couple of photos last night. Just a taster to show you this morning. I'll post up a few more pics later on.
I hope you like them.
The tufts of grass are from Silfor, the flock is GW's Scorched Grass, and the cool leaves on the ground are a mix of the Brown and Fall leaves from Secret Weapon Miniatures.
Cheers
Dave
