Horus Heresy - Look at what I found!

As I was doing some cleaning up/rearranging in my office the other day, I stumbled across this old Rapier Laser Destroyer. It may look at bit odd, but that's a layer of black ink over the top of the bare metal. It must, therefore, have been used in the GW Promotions studio in the US at some point foraMail Order catalog or something similar. My, how the times have changed.

Anyway, I never really had any plans to add a Rapier to my collection, but when one is dropped in your lap...

The two crew are kitbashed from various FW and plastic parts, and I think they turned out pretty well.

In addition to assembling the Rapier crew (and sticking the Rapier on a base), I built these five Tactical support Squad troopers, all with Volkite calivers. As a typical Imperial Guard player, I really like the idea of any weapon that causes automatic hits. Put that same weapon in the hands of someone with BS4 and I'm sold : )

Cheers
Dave

  2. Also, don't forget that in support squads, Sergeants come with a bolt pistol and CCW. They look great though!

  3. I thought you could by weapon for them so they would be equipped as per the rest of the squad, or is that just the tactical support squads?

  4. Curiously, while the Heavy Support Squad Sergeants come with a heavy weapon, the Tactical Support Sergeants don't get a special weapon. You can buy them a bolter or combi-weapon but not a flamer, melta, plasma or volike weapon. I think the sergeant in my Tac Support Squad will get a power fist, the better to squish Death Guard chumps with.

  5. Looking back, I see that Dave, you call them troopers, so you probably have a sergeant in the works and I'll just shut up now.

  6. Bugger, you're right Marc. I guess I just followed on from the Heavy Supports. Not sure what I'll give him then, and I'll have to put another dude or two together to fill out all the calipers I have.

What can take care of Alpha Legion easily? Maybe a plasma pistol?

  7. I gotta get me some Volkite Calipers for my car.

My thinking at the moment put Artificer Armor and Power Fists on tac sergeants so they can survive challenges from other sergeants. On a smaller, long range support squad that is going to get hosed in close combat anyway, I dunno. Maybe just a bolter. Or a bolter and an augery scanner? Or another power fist because they look cool and remind you of your first box of plastic Marines when you were 13? Not that that impacted my choice AT ALL.
