Horus Heresy - Tactical Marines

First, I'd like to say I hope everyone who celebrated it had a Happy Thanksgiving yesterday. I know mine was very good, lots of cooking, eating, drinking, and spending time with family (both near and abroad).

But now, on to the next set of minis. Here are the first four from a group of eight Tactical Marines I'm painting up for this Killzone project. Back in 2005/6 when I was working on my original batch of Death Guard, I painted up a Tactical Squad that won me a Staff Golden Demon trophy. I was torn this time, because I knew I wanted to include some new models and I also loved my old squad. What should I do paint-wise? (particularly as GW had stopped production of all the old paints I had used.)

In the end I decided to repaint my old models, so that everything would match my new scheme (painted using P3 Bastion Grey as the base). I hope you like them.

Cheers
Dave

  2. As someone who has a box of DG waiting to be built it is with growing disappointment I see your Death Guard updates appear. Each one feels like a (rusted) nail hammering into my coffin...

...couldn't you of picked a different Legion and thus not left me with feelings of inferiority before I even start building...?

    1. Thanks Eye. It's remarkably close to my old scheme, just a bit more tweaked.

  4. This to me is some of your best stuff ever. Your whites are simply amazing with all the shading. I know you love Death Guard and it really shows. This unit would definitely win a lot of awards.

  5. Looking stellar as always Dave! When you say for this Killzone project are your referring to Special Operations Killzone?

    1. I think it is the Special Operations Killzone, with a few HH tweaks. I'll post something soon about it.

  10. Damn, you get balls mate. Repainting something that won a gold, even if its 7 years ago, needs strength and dedication for the new project.
I would rather buy new stuff than repaint anything i painted before, especially if it is als good as this one:
