Heroes At Games Day!

Well, it has been a few days since Chicago Games Day, so I figured I should put up a post. I went out to Chicago with my wife and daughter, so it was quite a long trip (lots of sightseeing included) and I'm not fully recovered just yet.

All of that means this will be a quick one. More info to come later in the week, but here are a bunch of photo I took of Heroes of Armageddon stuff at the show.

Kirill brought his Commissar Yarrick to the show and he did not disappoint. With his yellow claw and subtle shading, he was a great match for Ghazghkull. Kirill entered him in the toughest category in GD, the 40K Single Miniature, and walked away with a Final Cut pin.

Here are a few photos of the table on the day.

Here's a friend of mine (and former colleague from GW Oz) Matt Weaver running the Armies On Parade booth at the show. In just a few short months, Matt will be running the triumphant return of Games Day to Australia's shores! Good Luck Matt, I hope it runs smoothly for you!

Ghaz and the Old Man face off on the causeway.

John Dickerman (left), one half of the HOA overlords, chats with Dan (right) from GW's What's New Today blog (that will hopefully be showing off some of my Empire army soon).

And finally, Jawaballs doing his best Vanna White impression, showing off the FOUR Pack 1520s kindly donated by Battlefoam.

Cheers
Dave

  1. I'm glad to see it all turn out so well and how much money was raised. Very inspirational. Too bad I couldn't make it out, was stuck recovering my house from the flood last week.

  2. So it has to be said - I hope that GW OZ isn't twice the price of the other games days for no good reason.

  3. @BC - sorry you couldn't make it. I hope things are working out.

@Grimm84 - please refrain from incendiary comments on my blog, that's what forums like wargamerau are for.

  4. That shot of Yarrick and Gaz is fantastic. The table was overwhelming in person.

  5. Games Day Australia actually looks to be quite good! Trouble is, I live in Perth, on the opposite side of Australia, the second most isolated city in the world so no Games Day for me :(

  6. If those were the staff t-shirts (with the Inquisition symbol) then colour me VERY jealous!

  8. @idget - True, distance can be a terrible thing. I'll be saving my money for 2013, when I expect the US Games Day to head to LA. Perhaps you could start an airfare fund for 2012 or 2013 to visit Sydney for an extended holiday, with GD being the focal point?

@Molotov - They were indeed the staff shirts. The customer shirts were a black t-shirt version.

  9. Damn I wish I could've made it to see this in person. It looks epic and it was truly great to see it all come together in the end.

  10. Ah, good to know. Thanks, Dave - I hope they're also at GDUK.

Congrats on featuring on the GW Blog, also!

  11. I love the symbolism and adherence to the fluff of the closely matching yellow schemes on Ghaz and Yarrick. The picture of them on the causeway is awesome---this is how it will always be, for all time, the two great warriors meeting again and again. Yarrick's outstretched arm and the yellow leading right into Ghaz's hull really captures the two of them being inevitably pulled together across space and time, two halves of one whole.
