Let's return to The Horus Heresy!

This year, on my trip to AdeptiCon, I didn't play any games. That's the first time since 2005 that I haven't. It felt a bit odd. I was still incredibly busy, and didn't have time in my schedule for gaming, but there was plenty there to be had. Of particular interest were the 30K events run by my friends Ty, Marc, John, and Robin. I'm planning on playing in at least one of their cool events next year.

Anyway, after finishing up my PowerPoint presentation for my metallics class, I was inspired to finish up the first on my Vorax Automata. These models are a reimagining of the old Crusader robots (I think) and their bug eyes are just magnificent.

At the show I also purchased my first squad of Charonite Ogryn for my Solar Auxilia army. I've already assembled them, and they now have primer on them. I think I may be back in the swing of things for my own painting! : )

Cheers
Dave

  3. Wow those Charonite Ogryns look incredible! Can't wait to see you them painted by you. Also really interested to hear your take on the leaked pics of the new Skitarii units. Those pics along with your wonderful Mechanicum army has inspired me to start an AdMech force of my own. As if I didn't have enough armies already, curse you GW & DT ;)

    1. Hi Greg, it was nice to finally meet you : )

I'm certainly salivating over the walker thing (primarily the Dragoon configuration), but I'll hold my thoughts until after the WD drops.

  6. Dave- the more I see the Vorax Automata, the more my mind convinces me that they are worth the crazy price. I'm wondering, do you think that they'd work well as epic scale Titans?

    1. Hi Thomas, I think with a little reworking you could use them as Reavers. Not having an Epic Reaver to hand at the moment, my general impression is that they're about the same height, but have a larger footprint, so appear bulkier.

    2. Hi Dave- thanks for the intel. My Epic Reaver stands just shy of 60mm with the missile rack on top, and the base is 55(?!) mm. Bulkier is fine, makes them more intimidating!

    3. I checked them last night and that's pretty much spot on for the height of these guys, also on a 60mm base : )
