Mechanicum - The Myrmidon Destructors
It wasn't too long after they were released that I received a surprise package from a friend in Florida. Richard sent me a pack of three Myrmidon Destructors. He had received them by mistake in an order from Forgeworld and decided they would be painted if they made it to my painting table...
...well, it has taken almost a year and a half to get them to this stage (almost finished). They sat on my desk with just a Tinny Tin dry brush over the metal for close to a year, as I couldn't find the little pack of mechadendrites. I finally found the pack the other day, so I launched into finishing them off.
Of course, as soon as I did I promptly lost the mechadendrites again. Once I find them, bend them, and paint them, I'll dust the bases and post a final pic for you all : )
More posts to come this week!
Cheers
Dave

Beautifully done, man! I've always loved those models, they just have a great sense of weight and brutality to 'em. Awesome work!
ReplyDeleteThanks, mate! While I know they get poo-pooed when it comes to list building, I've always liked them : )
DeleteNasty shooty robot guys! Nice work man as always.
ReplyDeleteThanks Damon. I could certainly push them a bit more, but needed to clear my table ; )
DeleteFantastique! As always.
ReplyDeleteGreat work Dave, they look amazing
ReplyDeleteThanks, amigo!
DeleteMaster of metallics, that is definitely for sure! I just love the copper piece on the back of the last one. Wonderful shading and pop there!
ReplyDeleteI do want a bit more blue glow on the models, but I love OSL as much as I love weathering :)
Thanks, Greg. I could have pushed the metallics a bit more and used a bit more OSL, but I ran out of the time I allotted myself. Might be able to come back to them later on.
DeleteAllotted yourself? Is this commission work? Or do you just allot yourself X amount of time per group or model, so you don't endless work on it?
DeleteFunny story, Hans came into my office at work and asked me if I knew a Dave Taylor. What a small world.
With the Warlord project about to start, I wanted to clear a bunch of models off my desk so I didn't have too much lingering. Usually I don't set aside a certain amount of time, but I kind of knew with these guys that I could get them to this level pretty quickly, or spent A LOT more time on them to take them a couple of steps further. I settled for done ; )
DeleteAnd yes, Hans has recently started hanging out with our gaming group (although he has known our host for years). After his first foray into miniatures gaming with Car Wars, I think he's going to enjoy the Malifaux we'll be playing : )
Makes perfect sense! (I also had no idea you guys were so close!). Settling for done is a hard choice...but a warlord...mmmmm is that going to adepticon?
DeleteGreat stuff! Love 'em.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jason!
DeleteReally nice - the limited palette is great, & those charging weapon tips are excellent!
ReplyDeleteThanks, PC. Sometimes that limited palette is quite challenging.
DeleteThanks, Gordon!
