And now for something completely different...
Recently I was chatting with a good friend of mine, and he was regaling me with stories about this interesting idea he had for a sci-fi skirmish game, it was something quite different to the many games already out there, and the background he has written for the "universe" it is set in sounded very cool (I'm a very story-driven hobbyist, if you hadn't already guessed).
Inspired by the idea, I thought I'd mess around with something for it, so here's a quick diversion - a vignette of an Outlander-refurbished T-72, with crewman checking out a downed camera drone.
The 15mm tank model is from Quick Reaction Force in the UK, the crewmen are from Flames Of War (Soviet tankers), as are some of the accesories on the tank, and the drone is from a couple of GW plastic off-cuts. The rocket rack is cut from plasticard and there's a little bit of greenstuff too.
Anyway, I'm not sure what'll become of his idea, but as I learn more (and can divulge details) I'll let you know.
Back to the Mechanicum (and Union troops, and Lamenters) for me : )

More Mechanicum rolling off the production line.
I got the chance to stop by my FLGS (Dropzone Games!) on Friday afternoon and pick up a couple of models they ordered in for me. These models were the plastic Necromancer and the plastic Chaos Sorcerer, I felt the robes would work well for more Mechanicum fun.
After a frenzy of cutting, gluing, and sculpting over the weekend, you can now see the results for yourselves. The two models really have quite a different "feel", something I'm going for in this collection of Mechanicum models.
Here's the Adept based off the Necromancer. With the simple addition of a Necron Wraith tail, a servo skull head and a couple of changes to his staff top and there's a strong sense of weirdness to this guy. Anyone want to suggest a discipline for Mechanicum him?
This guy is a little more conventional, and has a couple of links to the Adept on the back of the Admekrepairrume - primarily that he carries the same staff, and shares a very similar style of head, one that I always think of as being based on a Karl Kopinski drawing.
Both have a growing collection of cables springing from their backs, much like the other Adepts I've been building recently.
Anyway, I hope you like them.
Cheers

A mixed bag...
After getting back from our family vacation in Australia, it certainly has been a busy week getting back in the swing of things. I have a bunch of projects on my table (at least four I think), so we'll get to those as they all near completion. Above is one of my Mechanicum pieces about a third of the way through. I'm looking forward to getting more paint on him soon : )
One advantage of going away for two weeks is that you can end up with a few packages waiting for you when you get back. I was excited to see the Badger Renegade Krome airbrush I ordered from Secret Weapon Miniatures was delivered. Time to put some yellow on my Lamenters Storm Raven, I think!
I was also surprised to find this cool package. Seems a few friends at Outlaw Miniatures sent me a little teaser package for their new game, Wild West Exodus. Above is issue #1 of the "comic of the game" (or is the game "the game of the comic"?), and I must say the story and art are very cool. Below is a "pre-production" test shot of one of the minion models for the game, and Animated Brute from The Enlightened faction. Like a lot of the models being released now by folks like Wyrd and Dream-Forge, this cool zombie is all plastic and wonderfully detailed. He should be a hoot to paint up, and is currently standing on a wooden plank base from FullBorer Miniatures.
I urge you all to head on over to the Outlaw Miniatures' Kickstarter campaign and see if it's something you're interested in. I'm really keen on the blend of Wild West, Steampunk, Sci-fi, and mystical zealotry.
Finally, here's a teaser of something I've been working on here and there. I think you'll see some more of him over the coming months : )

Flying servitors are complete
And the final quick little post while I'm actually on the other side of the globe from my paints and minis (yes, I've been in Australia for the last week and a half) is of the flying servitors. These little guys were quite popular when I originally posted them, hopefully the paint has increased their appeal even further.
And as a reminder, here are the original WIP shots.
I'll be back in the US soon and will hopefully have some more new minis to show you all a few days later.

Red Robes Galore!
Just a quick update for today. My little servitors are all painted now, but as I type this I see that I missed photographing one of them (the one with the lens for a head). I guess I'll have to get a shot of him later on, when I'm back near my photo gear. As you've no doubt noticed on my plasma servitors, I've been messing around with some OSL. I've done the same here with the skull-holding servitor on the right, but using yellows rather than blues. I'm taking a class at Adepticon in April, so I wanted to have a few models that could be critiqued ready to go.
But otherwise, I hope you enjoy these little margin-fillers ; )

Finally got around to him...
Despite converting him at the same time as his three-legged brother, it has taken me a little while to get this plasma cannon-toting servitor painted up. The flesh was painted at the same time, but I became distracted by other things and only just wrapped him up last week.
Here he is in the grey/green stage.
And with his shiny, new paintjob.
Hope you like him : )
Cheers
