Mechanicum - Cerastus Knight-Lancer Part One
No prizes for guessing what's in the bath of Simple Green. This weekend's assembly project is a Cerastus Knight-Lancer. I'm looking forward to getting this puppy built, and if I can squeeze in a little time, I'll even build a pilot for it : ) And that's a Tech Deck base in there from Dragon Forge Design.
And for those who have not yet seen the rules for the Cerastus Knight-Castigator (the one with the sword), Forgeworld apparently posted these rules up today. Check out the madness that is the sword! S10, AP2, with Deflagrate, and the ability to auto hit all models in base contact at Int2. Perfect for wiping out Terminator hit squads!
And with that thought I bid you all a great weekend!
Cheers
Dave
LOL oh God. I am very tired. "S10, AP2, with Deflagrate" I read that as Defecate and was like: Geez, I know the rules went to Sh** in 7th, but that is shocking. Okay, early bedtime for me tonight :P
ReplyDeleteLovely teaser pic. I always find it interesting how everyone preps their models differently. I use dish soap and water, you use simple green. I've seen guys buy giant ultrasonic jewelry cleaners and dump their models in there as well.
ReplyDeleteOne thing you can say for this hobby...there is sure a lot of variety and technique in every stage!
Yep, lots of different ways to skin the proverbial cat. I like the Simple Green because if I get sidetracked and it stays soaking overnight it doesn't eat the resin : )
DeleteWith the Simple Green bath do you still scrub the parts with a soft brush after they come out?
ReplyDeleteI do CJ. I pull them from the Simple Green and scrub them with an old toothbrush, rinse them in a bowl of cold water, then leave them to dry overnight on some paper towels.
DeleteI remove mold-line my minis first, assemble and then clean. Is there an advantage to doing it the other way around?
ReplyDeleteFor these ones I removed the mold lines first, then washed, then I'll assemble. Usually I wash, remove mold lines, then assemble. I think it all comes down to whatever way works for you/give you the best results. : )
ReplyDeleteFor the record Dave and well everyone else, I use a paint-able mold release on my base line. You can paint right over it or its easy to wash off with warm water and a mild detergent like Dawn dish washing soap. Not sure what FW uses, but it is a bit "slimey" I think its silicone based which as you know is a bugger to remove.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads-up Jeff. I typically never worry about washing your bases, but figured as the rest of the model was taking a bath ; )
DeleteSorry if this ends up a double post, but: it looks like that bath is not pure Simple Green... it seems a bit light. Did you mix it with water? Any idea at what ratio?
ReplyDeleteI am a bit wary about putting my FW resin directly into pure Simple Green, but I don't want to dilute it so much that is isn't effective removing the mold release...
Thanks!
