With the success of my Tactical squad refurb, I figured I'd try it out on the Terminators I built seven years ago. These took standard Terminators and added a few details here and there in an effort to create what would later become Cataphractii. The broad, curved pauldrons, the peturges at the shoulder, and the enhanced chest plate/gorget. Anyway, I think they turned out nicely (Note: the assault cannon will be used as a reaper autocannon).
I've also put up a post on the
Guns Of April blog, showing off my latest French Infantry. Check it out, I hope you like them. : )
Cheers
Dave
Those Death Guard are looking nice. Where did you get the shoulders and the chest plates?
ReplyDeleteThanks Anon, the shoulder plates are simply standard Marine shoulder pads with the tops sliced off and turned sideways, the smaller plate is a piece of curved plasticard.
DeleteThe chest plates were created using a "sternum" of plasticard strips, then filled with putty and smoothed down. Sadly I don't have any WIP photos.
Hope that helps.
Very nice! I think those terminators held up very well over time - I dig 'em!
ReplyDeleteGreat work on the Frenchists there as well, that's some beautiful detail work!
Thanks for that. I like these guys too : )
DeleteThose are cracking Terminators. They look like mini Contemptor Dreadnoughts. As usual with your work they don't look like they are conversions :)
ReplyDeleteWhat are the french? Artillery crew or some sort of grenade carrying boarding action dudes? Nice figures, well painted, either way. Who makes them?
Thanks Euan. The original conversions were designed to match some or the early HH card artwork. Of course the new Cataphractii are much refined from the early days.
DeleteAs for the French, they're sailors from Brigade Games (checkout the link to the Guns Of April blog and there'll be links through to Brigade from there. But yes, I think a couple of them are carrying grenades ; )
I am really glad you updated these. The conversion screams death guard to me, and is as great now as it was when there were no heresy era terminator models. I'd love to see you convert up another batch to go with them.
ReplyDeleteHaha, thanks John. I don't think I'll be going back to add to them though. I do have my version of Calas Typhon that needs a refurb to become a Praetor, once I get the new First Captain ; )
DeleteNice! The white on the termie armor came out gorgeous Dave.
ReplyDeleteThanks jugger : )
DeleteGood work Dave! Since always. A great greeting.
ReplyDeleteThanks Eli!
DeleteThose termies are beautiful m8. Very nice work on the weathering. Subtle but highly realistic.
