I'm not sure why it took me so long* to paint this model. I guess I was waiting for the right project, or I was feeling a little daunted by what I felt was going to be a LOT of work. Perhaps I just needed to get a few other vehicles under my belt in a scheme I was keen on. Whatever it was has now passed and Dauntless stands ready to deliver troops of the Solar Auxilia into battle.

DeleteNow that, that is special. Is that an assault ramp at the front? If so, may I ask how you made it? I do like the larger armour panels on the citadel - gives it just the right air of being similar yet somehow different to the 40k ones.
ReplyDeleteThanks, James. Yep, that's an assault ramp. When the image for showed up in that book it was just a silhouette, and an assault ramp seemed the best way to get 40 infantry in and out of something like that. Sadly, of course, GW decided that "over the side" was the best way. If you click on the text in the final line of the article, you'll see the "before" pictures of the Stormlord. Basically the front and the super-structure are all scratchbuilt from 1mm plasticard.
