Mechanicum - The Knights of House Taranis

Continuing my "clearing the decks" approach to my hobby recently, I have finished off another three Imperial Knights to now take my 30K House Taranis Knights up to five (also known as a "Half-Rudge" of Knights*). Just a quick post today, as I have to run soon, but please post any questions you might have in the comments below : )

Above is my Baron Prime - Forge Master Tacitus Agrippa, riding his Knight Gallant, Olympicus Rex.

Baron Agrippa's bodyguard is Ser Baledin Lange, riding his Cerastus-Knight Lancer, Shield of the Omnissiah.

This is Ser Maarku Radcliff, riding his Knight Crusader, Torrent of Fire.

I have also made the battle cannon of Torrent swappable for a thermal cannon, incase I feel the need for additional close range devastation ; )

In this shot you can see my 30K-era House Taranis crest. I've described the retro-creation of the crest in an earlier post, but can't seem to find it at the moment. I'll link to it when I can find it.

And here's the Torrent's right shoulder markings. Again, the Taranis icon has been retro-fitted for 30K use. These two 30K decals are both custom jobs from Fallout Hobbies. They arrived on Thursday, and I'm very pleased with them indeed (although Ron is probably cursing me a little). Anyway, head on over to the Fallout Hobbies site and check out everything they have to offer!

Here is Ser Vadik Faustino, riding his Knight Paladin Deus Malleus. This was actually the very first Knight I painted for myself : )

And finally, you can see Ser Tanner Malcom, riding his Knight Errant Ignis Mechanica.

I hope you like them : )

Cheers
Dave

* Paul Rudge was the first person to put together a collection of one of each of the Knight patterns available, caused the Internet to dub such a collection or gathering a "Full Rudge" of Knights.

  3. These sir, really recall "the splender of days gone by, before heresy, drove traitors to the eye."

    Excellent, most excellent!

  4. Beautifully done, man! I absolutely love the depth you get out of your metallics, makes the lovely painted armor plates stand out all the more!

Something's been bothering me about the project though - In Mechanicum, House Taranis is described as having a predominantly blue paint scheme during the Heresy. You can always send these my way if you feel the need to start over. ;)

Was honestly bummed that GW went 'all red, all the time' for the Mechanicum-aligned houses with the recent 40k knight fluff book. House Krast wears blue and yellow, darn it! Hah!

    Keep up the great work!

    1. You know me, mate. There was only one source talking about blue paint jobs, but now many more suggesting the red scheme. History itself doesn't change, but our understanding of it can ; )

  5. Excellent stuff. Now all you need is a gaming table big enough....

  6. House Taranis wore blue with a cog and lightning arms in Mechanicum so I guess that yours are more 40 than 30K XD

    1. Although the blue is the scheme described in Mechanicum I've decided to go for the red described in all the more recent 'history books'. I find that's the best thing about 30K/40K, the ability to choose your own path : )

    1. Nope, can't say I do. What's the connection? I was hunting around a naming website for the various names of my pilots and Maarku came up as meaning "of Mars" and Radcliffe came up as "red cliff". I just figured both were appropriate : )

  10. "Ser Maarku Radcliff...", dose he have his faithful squire, Maac "Lard" Reilii?

  11. I just read your comment about having no knowledge of Marc Radcliff and so Marc Reily would mean nothing to you either; unless you are a fan of the band, "The Fall".

    1. Nope, no knowledge there either. Although I do have a good friend called Marc Raley : )

  12. I know these are from awhile ago, but WOW. The powders on the base are so crisp too. What do you use to seal them? Mine always disappear when I try to seal them.
