Not wanting my ever increasing painting queue to overtake my recent Forgeworld purchases, I started painting up the Magos Dominus with Rad-Cleanser immediately after finishing off the Castellax. I'm not sure of his rules, I am yet to order the (edit: Massacre) book from FW, but hopefully he'll be a bit of fun on the tabletop.
It was a real treat to paint this guy up, even moreinsight gleaned into the Mechanicum aesthetic. Things like the idea that a Magos Dominus needs almost a dozen servo skulls to help him execute his duties.
Cheers
Dave
Very nice!
ReplyDeleteThat is one wierd ass model that's for sure...
Thanks Jeff, it sure is crazy.
DeleteLooking very nice, I had my doubts about the figure but I am coming round to him now e's had paint jobs like this.
ReplyDeleteAs for his rules they are in Massacre, not Betrayal.
They are very interesting though, their 'phychic' like powers giving bonuses to the Battle-Automata (though there are risks in using it). They have access to a whole plethora of wargear as well.
My book (finally) arrived today and it is lovely...
Thanks for the correction Rictus, my mistake. Edit has been made.
DeleteSo it sounds like you're saying this guy is kind of a spell caster that enhances the big robots he stands next to. Not unlike another game I've heard of ; )
Pretty much yeah, he can target a Battle Automata within 12" with a 'power' instead of shooting. Rather than a psychic power I think it is more meant to be him sending a new programme. Either way it is a Ld test with a risk in the same way a psychic test is done. The different 'powers' have a Ld modifier depending how powerful they are.
DeleteMy favourite has to be the self destruct command...
Amazing painting and the metal work is just right!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave. Still a little more smoothness to achieve with my shading, but that will come with patience. One day I'll find some patience.
DeleteTres cool. I like the metal work as well!
ReplyDeleteThanks Grant!
DeleteI love this figure, a brilliant Mechanicum Magos! The "hangar" of servo skulls makes him look so strange, and it works really well.
ReplyDeleteAnd may I ask, what ever happened to the commissioned Tanith army? Has it been cancelled?!? :(
Thanks, James
Thanks James, it is a very strange (but cool) model!
DeleteAs for the Tanith, unfortunately I haven't heard from the client for a long time, which could mean all number of things. At the moment I certainly have no Tanith in my painting queue.
Ah, that's a huge shame :( I'd be happy to take them off your hands? ;)
DeleteHi James, they're already bought and paid for by the original commissioner, so not around any longer. Mind you, I could be convinced if commissioned to do some more ; )
DeleteShoot me an email to the address in my profile if you are interested.
That is absolutely fantastic! I love the bronze color you do, it's got such great depth to it - beautiful work as always!
ReplyDeleteThanks mate, no that I've got it working well, I'll keep trying to refine it : )
DeleteGreat paintjob to complete(?) your "bronze wave" addition to the ad mech force.
ReplyDeleteI have this model and it amazed me quite how much detail/stuff there is on this guy - I really hadn't picked up on much of it from the FW pics (like his creepy little metal arm).
Can't see from the picture but I hope you didn't paint the rad cleanser as a wooden box as the FW painter did - it's not some old gadget he found in the attic; this is supposed to be the pinnacle of technology.
Great stuff all round and I'm glad to see you continuing to ad to the army.
Yep, loads of great detail, and I went for a black/bronze combo for the rad cleanser ; ) thanks for the comments!
ReplyDeleteHI Dave , I'm also working on a AM army , we should share blogs links
