One thing I do recommend you do is take a look at as many pictures of 'Eavy Metal painted Space Marines as you can. One thing you'll start to notice is that no matter the pose of the Space Marine, they all have their highlights in almost identical places, many of which might defy the "natural order" of light falling, but it's a system that works really well for large slabs of armor. Get familiar and comfortable with those highlight locations, then practice, practice, practice.

@Busty - nice work, looks like you're having some fun there. Remember though, that this is a hobby for life, so you can take your time posting ; )

Cheers
Davedavetaylorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08137502467601937229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2469017760558244027.post-46323493184607292582010-06-22T15:24:36.452-07:002010-06-22T15:24:36.452-07:00Wow dude! I really love, and I truly mean this, the models and yearn for something that even compares to that for my Grey Knights. One issue I've been having is doing highlights. I usually do a heavy drybrush of Chainmail, Badab Black, then I put Chainmail on the edges and then go over that with Mithril Silver. But I don't have nearly as good of a "blend" between the lights and darks in mine. I think it is because I'm not experienced with trying to highlight, or maybe I'm using too much Badab Black. Do you recommend any way of trying to find a natural looking lighting before applying paint or does that just come with time and skill? Any tips at all?Michael Hoganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12829754911299623731noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2469017760558244027.post-17020710428682888022010-06-19T15:13:47.329-07:002010-06-19T15:13:47.329-07:00@Rick - Yep, John is correct.
